This session will give participants the skills to transform existing data collection and implementation practices into a toolkit for advancing health equity by centering the voices of those with lived experience.

Transforming Data Into Action for Equity: Often community data are collected by health researchers, and policy makers rely on this data to inform their decisions and actions – all without community input. This rarely results in community-focused health solutions. However, when people are equipped with their own data and stories, community voice is a powerful force for advancing health equity. The people most impacted by health inequalities are able to illustrate the issues they, their families, and their neighbors face, and they’re able to have self-determination over solutions.The Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) is a data platform and resource hub that has worked to democratize social determinant of health (SDOH) data by creating a free tool for all Coloradans. Join this workshop to learn how to combine all of the CEC platform’s components to strengthen your work and write a narrative that moves hearts, changes minds, and ultimately brings about impactful community change.
